Summer 2022: Program 1 - Day 8

Today in the second excursion of the weekend, the Reach Cambridge team visited the bustling city of London! After an early start, we arrived at London and swiftly separated into two groups. Group A ventured to one of the nations best art galleries – the Tate Modern. With artists like Dalí, Picasso to Warhol and beyond, there was an exciting variety of works for students to explore! After that, Group A walked just down South Bank to watch a fantastic production of King Lear in Shakespeare’s own Globe Theatre, featuring Katherine Hunter, known among the students for her role in ‘Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix’. What a dream come true for students to see such a well-known play with such a remarkable cast!

On the other side of London, our Group B went off to explore either the Natural History Museum or Science Museum. With plenty of dinosaur bones and even a giant sloth skeleton in the NHM, and fighter planes and interactive engineering exhibits in the Science Museum, students were fascinated by the immense display of artefacts these museums had to offer!

After the students’ cultural and physical appetites had been well and truly nourished, we got back on the coaches and gave students some time in Cambridge to eat a meal out with their friends. We then held a movie screening in Trinity Hall, with plenty of snacks, drinks and most importantly – popcorn!
