That’s day #2 done!
Today started like a typical class day with breakfast in college, then supervisors helped students find their classes. After their first introductory sessions yesterday, today they had the chance get to into the depth of their subjects with their academic teachers.
Class is always followed by some well-deserved free time to explore Cambridge city centre and find something tasty for lunch with friends from class or their college.
Our Taster Courses also kicked off today, so students who had opted to try Architecture, Engineering, History & Politics, Neuroscience, or Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine spent the afternoon getting into their chosen subject.
It’s been a busy 24 hours since the students arrived, so the Supervisors organised some chilled activities for the students to enjoy: Sports on the playing field, and T-shirt painting for the creatives amongst us. It was great to see so many students come along. Everyone then had a bit of time to relax before catching up again at dinner in their colleges. Every evening on a class day, the whole Reach Cambridge cohort gathers together for an evening lecture. These cover a huge range of topics, and tonight’s was titled ‘A Life of Flying’. Former RAF and commercial pilot Tony Evans captivated the audience with his stories from the air, and the students had the chance to ask Tony some fantastic questions.
Following the lecture, the students had the chance to get to know students staying in the other colleges in cross-college ice breakers! It was great to have everyone together on a beautiful evening in Cambridge… Stay tuned for more tomorrow!
