This will be explored through a guided tour of a local Biotechnology firm and practicals in which students are given hands-on experience with drug design and discovery. Students will be offered a unique insight, therefore, into both the study of biotechnology at university but also the vocational opportunities in the field beyond the academy. Drawing on the expertise of leading graduates in the field, this course will be structured around theoretical business models and analytical study of current issues in business and management studies. Topics will include marketing, financial planning, leadership, and professional development. This exciting programme also involves units including microeconomics to complement the core learning modules. Students will also be involved in peer debates, engage in business planning, conduct real life case studies and deliver high quality business presentations. In addition to this students will interact with local business people in order to gain invaluable insight into the real, dynamic world of business and management.

Students will also take part in practicals in which they will put principles learned in the classroom into action. They will be encouraged to think about practical applications for the subject and, in particular, medicine. This course will engage students in fundamental debates about the role of the doctors and drug companies in today's society and, at the same time, introduce them to emerging new fields such as nanotechnology. It will introduce students to subjects that roam beyond the scope of their current courses of study and thereby offer them a flavour of English Literature at University.

The course will also involve stimulating excursions to the theatre and practical workshops. Beyond its intellectual introduction to a variety of authors, issues, and texts, this course will furnish students with transferable skills invaluable for University study. The English Literature course teaches students how to think critically, deliver stimulating presentations, and to define historical contexts. This exciting programme will also introduce students to subjects that roam beyond the scope of their current courses of study and thereby offer them a flavour of English Literature at University.

The week on human geography looks at key topics such as globalisation, population pressure, migration and urbanisation and development studies. Excursions include a trip to the Centre for Sustainable Development and a full day trip to London, including the Natural History Museum. The final day of the course brings the two streams of physical and human geography together.

In the evenings, after dinner, there is an exciting and thought-provoking series of lectures and debates on World Issues, British Culture and invaluable Life Skills.

Classes and afternoon activities in the week are complemented by a trip to an iconic site in Britain to soak up culture, history (and maybe even do a little shopping).

Topics including the Cold War, the Arab-Israeli conflict, world institutions such as the IMF, the World Bank, the UN and ASEAN and religious conflict will be explored in-depth. Case studies include the Korean War, the Cuban Missile Crisis and Iraq sanctions. These are followed by workshops and practicals as well as excursions to sites of particular scientific interest. Highlights include visits to a number of exciting museums and laboratories around Cambridge.

Topics during the course include those from both the Pure and Applied Mathematics streams and also incorporate some overlap with Physics. A highlight is the trip to the Science Museum in London. Subjects covered include Number Theory, Set Theory, Game theory, Quantum Mechanics, Special Relativity, Linear Algebra, Theory of probability, principles of statistics and computer programming in C. This course will teach students to challenge the boundaries of the subject, to explore the diverse forms of Mathematics and think about both theoretical approaches and practical applications.

Students will explore a variety of subjects including orchestral repertoire, opera, pop music, musical theatre, and conducting. These sessions will be led by first class musicians and academic experts in their field. There will also be creative writing clinics, practical workshops led by actors and the opportunity to take part in cross-disciplinary study through shared sessions with the English Literature and Linguistics programmes.

Whether you are an accomplished musician and actor or you would simply like to build upon a burgeoning interest in music and drama, this stimulating course will develop presentation and performance skills, teach you to think critically about the performing arts and encourage creativity.

The course will introduce the main ideas of Western philosophy, followed by a unit of study on critical thinking skills and an investigation into how knowledge is acquired in different disciplines. Some of the questions posed include: What is a good argument? What is real? How should we be governed? What is art? Students will explore the parameters of 'the philosophical' and investigate the place of philosophy in everyday life. There will also be the opportunity for interdisciplinary study, through shared sessions with our History programme. This hugely stimulating course will invest students with key transferable intellectual skills and provide an unforgettable academic experience.

Classroom sessions are combined with workshops and practicals as well as excursions to sites of particular scientific interest. Highlights include a visit to the Science Museum in London, an introduction to Astrophysics followed by a visit to a Planetarium and night observing at a laboratory and a rocket practical.

Our expert lecturers will provide an insight into what it is like to study Engineering at university level and encourage students to think about new developments in the field, how theoretical problems can be approached in the real world and challenges for the future.

The second half of the course will build on the knowledge developed in the Engineering classes to introduce both theoretical and practical applications of Physics. Students will be introduced to key areas of Physics and Astronomy, such as include Special Relativity, Nanoelectronics, Particle Physics and Quantum Mechanics. They will be taught by scientists at the cutting edge of Physics research. These are followed by workshops and practicals as well as excursions to sites of particular scientific interest. Highlights include a fun rocket practical and a visit to a Planetarium and night observing at a laboratory.

Students will take part in a model United Nations debate and carry out group case studies to explore conceptual and practical differences between political systems. This learning will be supplemented by trips to important local political sights. The programme will also include sessions on journalism and film, to allow students to think more about ways in which political events are reported in and shaped by the media. This diverse course offers a fascinating insight into politics and the developing field of International Relations at university level and beyond.

In lessons, students will explore various areas to do with cognitive, behaviour, developmental and even biological psychology and focus on such issues as memory, child and adult developmental stages, social behaviourism, and abnormalities in behaviour. This course will explore both the scientific nature of Psychological studies and research whilst demanding fresh-thinking and the critical appraisal of key concepts.

The dynamic mix of workshops and lectures will enable students to grapple with these thought-provoking issues with the support of brilliant teachers, investing students with key transferable intellectual skills relevant to University studies in both Sciences and the Humanities.
