Well, the routine of the program is truly underway by this point!
After an early night last night, and a lie in this morning, today was centered around one big activity, a sports day. For breakfast a lot of popular food combinations appear to be cucumber slices, scrambled eggs, and a pain au chocolat… its balanced, its healthy, its a unique assortment of food!
We had to ourselves a racing track, catering, volleyball nets, quiet rooms, and a football field. A huge site to spread out the various activities, the weather was warm and lovely. As such, giant water bottles and cups were dotted about the place, and supervisors regularly reminded students over the tannoy to drink plenty of water and reapply suncream.
Supervisors watched over the racing and ball games, supplying water and ensuring everyone was safe. Inside, students who wanted a quieter day, or some shade from the sun, could play Mario Kart, board games, or make bracelets or origami. Many paper cranes and love hearts were made, and students exchanged with one another friendship bracelets made from multicoloured threads and beads. These arts and crafts events are especially chatty, and its always a peaceful atmosphere.
Out on the field, some students and supervisors competed together in a relay race (some supervisors lost to the students). Other students formed teams with students from other colleges, and so those living in separate accommodations had the chance to bond further with one another.
Mac and cheese, rice, vegetarian curry, jerk chicken, meatballs, and pasta made for a filling dinner, and we were allowed second servings!
Students were then walked back to their colleges in time for curfew, and a restful sleep for tomorrow’s excursion to London…. stay tuned…
