Summer 2026: Program 2 – Day 1

  • July 20, 2026
  • By Author: media@reachcambridge.com

After a long night of sleep (at last) the first full days of Program 2 have begun.

Students were walked to their classes for the morning. Some of the classes include Medicine & Life Sciences, Physics & Astronomy, Literature & Creative Writing, and Architecture. The law group received a talk from Daniel Zeichner, the MP of Cambridge. After which, they discussed the parliamentary system in the UK and the impact of Brexit on the population.

Lunchtime was an exploration of Market Square, where various cuisines gather locally within a historic marketplace. Penne pasta appeared particularly popular amongst the students!

Corridors later became teams as the ‘Instravaganza’ photograph competition began. The entire Program 2 cohort has been split into Team Fire and Team Ice. Together, students solved riddles leading them to landmarks of Cambridge where they were challenged to take the most creative-looking photos. The results of which will contribute to which team wins at the end of the program: Fire or Ice!! A group from Team Ice posed by Newton’s Apple Tree with apples on their heads.

One of our lecture theatres was buzzing with noise as the evening class was delivered by Abass Dodoo, a Ghana-born drummer. Abass has spent his life sharing his culture with the world, regularly meeting both prime ministers and royalty! Before the session, he expressed: “Everything you do, you do it to your best”. This message evidently stuck, as students were incredible on the drums, learning the rhythm and timings of the music.

Tomorrow, classes and social activities will continue, and the routine of Reach Cambridge will settle once again.
