Summer 2025: Program 2 – Day 9

  • July 30, 2025
  • By Author: Nicole Banas

Our morning kicked off with a truly inspiring session for our aspiring legal minds. We were happy to welcome Baronness Garden to talk to our students today, who offered an invaluable insight into the world of law, governance, and public service. She shared anecdotes, answered questions, and provided a unique perspective on the legal profession. Elsewhere, our Physics students were also getting busy at Jesus Green, in a very different way; setting off rockets! With shouts of ‘3, 2, 1, launch’ their impressive rockets soared skyward, allowing our students applied the concepts they had learnt so far.

The afternoon offered a wonderful blend of activities. Some of our students embarked on a Cambridge drawing tour. Armed with sketchbooks and pencils, they explored some of the city’s most picturesque spots, from the historic college buildings to the tranquil banks of the River Cam. They were also able to keep the sketchbooks provided for any further artsy inspiration. For other students, we held a lively Nintendo Switch session at Trinity Hall.

As the afternoon progressed, everyone converged at the sports ground for some high-energy fun.  Pizza was provided! The highlight of the sports session was undoubtedly the highly anticipated supervisor vs. students volleyball match. Both teams battled it out, with some particularly embarassing moments for our inexperienced supervisors. There was plenty of laughter; and even though our students were, objectively, the better team, in a twist of fate, the supervisors emerged victorious! (though, I suspect, it was largely a pity win).

To cap off the day, we took the fun inside. The evening brought us together for everyone’s favourite; karaoke! Our students, and even some of our brave supervisors, took turns belting out their favourite tunes and taking centre stage.

With so much going on every day, our students were understandably tired and headed to bed for an early night; ready for everything the next day has to offer!
