Reach Cambridge August 2016: Day 4

  • August 4, 2016
  • By Author: Luke
The second day of lessons commenced and the spell of beautiful sunshine came to an end this morning. The traditional British weather returned but the students’ spirits did not decline with it! The mathematicians had their first experience of programming whilst the Biotechnology class had a trip to the Cambridge Science Centre. The excitement peaked in the Chemistry and Medical Sciences class when 12 lamb hearts were produced for dissection. The students also practiced using monitoring equipment and learnt a lot about the cardiovascular system in their second day of lessons. The activities today were very arty, with crafts at lunchtime and t-shirt painting after class. As has been demonstrated many times in the past week, the students are an extremely creative bunch and the T-shirt designs showed it! Intricate patterns and drawings by some were juxtaposed by blocky, abstract designs by others. Continuing on the day’s theme, the evening activity was storyboarding. The session involved creating a story and an accompanying cartoon storyboard. Gaining inspiration from Walt Disney, the students created stories about cats, punching walls, responding to bullying and exploring space and many other imaginative themes. It’s been a lovely day and we’ve got lots to look forward to for the rest of the week! Written by Charlotte, Corridor Supervisor
