Reach Cambridge July 2016: Day 10

  • July 7, 2016
  • By Author: Jenny
Wednesday marked the halfway point in our three weeks here at Cambridge, and what an amazing time we’ve had already! From art to architecture, sport to Spanish and everything in between, our students have been anything but bored, and have been making the most of exploring the historic city. This afternoon, the Leadership team had the challenge of creating and presenting a concept for a business or social enterprise to a panel of supervisors. A spa and shaving product funding care for the homeless went up against a plan to help aid organisations to provide supplies to those displaced by conflict. These incredible ideas were slickly presented by the two teams, and the teacher, Annmarie, was definitely impressed! For a more artistic alternative, some students were also given the chance to try T-shirt painting, with a variety of intricate designs, including a beautiful painting of the Bridge of Sighs, one of Cambridge’s most famous landmarks. In the evening, students attended a lecture on Gender and Identity, a varied and interesting topic that promoted sensitive discussion. After a long day, the students then had the chance to let their hair down at the Summer School Disco! Students and supervisors alike dusted off their dancing shoes for an evening of throwing shapes to some of the best (or cheesiest) music around. With trips to London, the World Fair and the Fete of Fun still to come, the fun at Reach is far from over. It’s been a great start to the Reach Cambridge program, and we can’t wait to see what the second half will hold! Written by Dom, Supervisor
