Reach Cambridge August 2015: Day 15

  • August 10, 2015
  • By Author: Luke
The excursion today had everyone in an excited mood – we were going to Blenheim Palace and the Other Place a.k.a Oxford! A fairly long bus journey made sure that all of us caught up on our sleep and were energetic and raring to go when we reached Blenheim Palace. There, some of us decided to go on a guided tour of the palace while others lounged in the stunning gardens. The tour itself was very interesting and informative, and we got a glimpse into what aristocratic life was like. After the tour, we caught up with those in the gardens and we all had a picnic on the grass under the sun. Post – picnic, we all boarded the bus for Oxford. With the bustling streets and the whizzing cyclists, it felt like we were in a slightly altered version of Cambridge. The students were given a map with interesting places to visit and they set off in groups, eager to explore the shops and colleges in Oxford. When we all congregated back to meet before we left, our Director of Curriculum Luke took a quick poll – “raise your hands if you think Oxford is better than Cambridge”. I am happy to report that not a single hand was in sight. In all seriousness though, the trip was a hearty success with the students getting a taste of what another university town felt like.
