Reach Cambridge August 2015: Day 9

  • August 5, 2015
  • By Author: Luke
On Sunday, our day was spent exploring Norfolk’s historically and culturally rich coastline. We began our trip by paying a visit to Felbrigg Hall, a 17th century country house surrounded by acres of green space. We particularly enjoyed exploring the walled gardens, which are home to hens, ducks, pigs and bees, as well as the wonderful flowers that fill the vases in the house itself. Inside the house we were able to take a look at the opulent dining room, complete with plates of food popular during the 17th century. Upstairs, we found the incredible Gothic library, filled with leather-bound volumes and comfy, plush armchairs. Taking a closer look at some of the maps on display, we found regions that were described as “unexplored”, proving just how much was left to discover when these maps were printed! After this, we carried on to Cromer, a sea-side town just 15 minutes away from Felbrigg Hall. Luckily, we were greeted with wonderful sunshine that meant we could explore the town and have some fun on the beach. The pier, of course, was a real highlight providing well-deserved ‘fish and chips’ and an interesting lifeboat museum featuring a full-sized decommissioned boat. Written by Emma, Supervisor
