Reach Cambridge July 2015: Day 18

Today, on the penultimate day of Reach Cambridge, the much anticipated Reach Olympics took place. Many students stepped up to the plate, displaying admirable skills in wheelbarrow racing, 3-legged racing, beanbag racing and, lastly, the relay around the paddock. The relay was a closely-fought race with many teams striving to come first place. Yet, there could only be one winner. In the end, the supervisors reigned champion, despite being rather less successful in the other races. Following the Olympics, the 7-a-side football tournament took place. This was hugely successful. Many students took part and showed some real skill in the sport. The tournament culminated in a heated match between the students and the supervisors. Despite lasting a grand total of 10 minutes due to dinner being served shortly after, much action took place on the pitch and three goals were scored. Tonight the lecture is on ‘A Life of Flying’ which will be hosted by Tony Evans. He is a Virgin pilot and will be talking about his career starting with the airforce and going on to commercial airlines. The lecture will be followed by the famous Reach ghost tour. The dark, shadowy buildings of Cambridge are the perfect backdrop for a ghost tale and will be hosted by Reach’s very own Rosalind Peters. Rumour has it that the odd ghost might pop up out of nowhere during the tour… Students have been warned! Written by Emily, Head of Pastoral Care
