What? It’s the last Monday already?! Time certainly does fly here at Reach. Students were treated to a bit of a lie-in this morning to catch up on some much-needed rest after the weekend’s festivities, with classes starting at 10 rather than 9 (for as we all know, an hour in the morning makes a lot of difference!).
Those students taking part in the University Advance add-on visited a couple of London universities. First up was UCL, where the group were met by an admissions representative from the International Office who was able to talk with the students about their academic interests and entry requirements. They were shown around the campus and different faculties, and learnt about the history of the university, including seeing the skeleton of its founder Jeremy Bentham – a unique experience! Following this was a tour around the impressive Imperial College complex, given by a student representative who was able to give a student perspective of daily life at the university.
Back in Cambridge, students were treated to some quintessential English weather, i.e. wet and unpredictable. However, this by no means dampened our spirits, and one group even demonstrated their commitment to enjoying themselves whatever the weather by heading to the nearby Kelsey Kerridge swimming pool for a splash about! After another dinner in college, it was back to the Lecture Theatre for a talk on social responsibility, followed by the option to take part in T-shirt painting, join a Zumba class, play informal sport, or practise for the all-important talent show tomorrow… I was in the office and heard some snippets; it promises to be a seriously impressive evening!
