Reach Cambridge July 2015: Day 3

  • June 30, 2015
  • By Author: Jenny
After a busy day getting to know one another yesterday, and a good night’s sleep, the students were excited to really get stuck in to classes this morning. After lessons they had another opportunity to explore Cambridge (still basking in glorious sunshine) and to try out more of the restaurants and cafes for lunch. In the afternoon, students had to make the difficult decision between going to Downing to play sports and heading to Trinity Hall to prepare for this evening’s ‘World Fair’. Those who picked sports had a great time out in the sunshine playing tennis, football and basketball, and were very much looking forward to dinner by the time 5:30 came around! The ‘World Fair’ happens every program and involves talks and presentations from students and staff about their home countries. The students also set up stalls to teach each other about their home countries and even to share typical foods and drinks with each other. During the afternoon, students worked hard to prepare posters, slideshows, dances and drawings to share with each other in the evening. After dinner, we were lucky enough to hear a talk on personality by Dr. Blaine Landis, who has a PhD from Cambridge and lectures at University College London. Afterwards, the World Fair kicked off, with everyone excited to get a taste of the many different cultures on show.  It was great to see students of different ages and cultures working together to produce fun and exciting presentations. All in all, day 3 was jam-packed and full of fun. As supervisors, we all enjoyed seeing the students getting to know each other better and really getting stuck in with all the activities. We’re excited to see what tomorrow will bring! Written by Emma, Supervisor
