(Yesterday, some of the students caught a glimpse of King Charles passing by them in a car. It was part of his visit to an eco-friendly mosque in Cambridge.)
An overcast but warm morning, classes and lunch ran as usual today for most students, except for the Politics class. They visited the House of Commons and the House of Lords in London, and learnt about the art and architecture of the buildings. However, they didn’t miss out much on the evening activities, and came back for a grand Sports and Pizza Party!
In the mid-afternoon, there was a choice between a Kahoot Quiz or a tour of all of the bookshops in Cambridge. Fun fact, the oldest publishing house in the world is in Cambridge: the Cambridge University Press was founded during the reign of Henry VIII in 1534. The below picture shows some of the books bought by students after having a poke around the bookshops. They also visited Heffers, a giant (GIANT) bookshop that opened in Cambridge in 1876, opposite Trinity College, with every genre imaginable, from colouring books to books ABOUT art.
Everyone met up for a Sports and Pizza Party in the evening. Volleyball, badminton, basketball, and football were the most popular games. Some students commenced races against each other across the field, and others were spotted playing some intricate ball-throwing game. Very organised. A lot of the supervisors also joined in for a game that looked like volleyball but without the net? A good way to practice passes! Inside, those who wanted a break from all the activity took part in competitive games of Jenga with the rest of the supervisors, or made bracelets and bag charms with loom bands whilst having a chat. So far, a lot of the chats here have consisted of learning phrases in other languages. Portuguese and Arabic seem to be the topic of discussion the most!
After finishing up games, and drinking tons of water in this heat, a little free time around town was allowed before bed. Two students decided to go and try sushi for the first time. We hope you both enjoyed!
