Summer 2026: Program 2 – Day 0

A busy first day here at Reach Cambridge!

Arrivals Day is always jam-packed with activities as students settle into their accommodations and meet the team.

This morning began with supervisors greeting students in the airport, and throughout the rest of the day as more flights landed. Taken to their colleges afterwards, welcome rooms were filled with games and snacks, and became sociable spaces for all arrivals.

Into the afternoon, tours across Cambridge were held to help make the city and colleges feel familiar, and students were then helped by supervisors to move into their respective rooms.

One of the most exciting parts of arrivals day: the corridor meetings! This is a super important part of the timetable, as students meet the supervisor that is often the first port of call in their accommodation. Icebreaker questions helped us all get to know each other (“What is your dream job?“, “What cartoon character do you wish was real?“, “What cause are you most passionate about at the moment?“). Corridor meetings are a fun way to learn, in small groups, which countries we have all come from, what languages we speak, what we study. Its a great way to help students feel comfortable and familiar at Reach.

After dinner (and rocky road dessert), the welcome talk further introduced the structure of the program and all necessary safety procedures. And by this point, we were all starting to feel tired! But the evening finished off with everyone excited to attend a watch party of the World Cup Final, Spain v Argentina, before bed.

Tomorrow, classes will begin and there will be more opportunity for making friends; students studying the same subjects will meet each other, and more social activities will kick-off… come back to this blog for tomorrow’s update!
