Summer 2026: Program 1 – Day 12

  • July 18, 2026
  • By Author: media@reachcambridge.com

And there we have it folks! Reach 2026 programme 1 has come to an end. It is hard to believe that it was only two weeks ago that we picked up the students from the airport; seeing the friendships that have blossomed and the emotional goodbyes you wouldn’t be able to guess that these students have only known each other for two weeks.

Friday morning began with final classes, a chance to say goodbye to teachers and receive certificates. The feeling that the programme was drawing to an end began here, and continued throughout the afternoon with a chance to pack and spend some precious free time with friends. Meanwhile, our supervisors were working hard to set up the departure party for the students.

This year we hosted Reach’s biggest cohort to date, and what an incredible group it’s been! The energy, kindness, talent, and curiosity you’ve brought to every lecture, activity, and conversation have made this a summer we’ll never forget.

Then it was time for Reach on the Beach: The Departure Party!

In the Gonville and Caius site garden a delicious BBQ was prepared, music was playing and students arrived ready to have one last amazing night of the programme. Gathering together we reflected on the programme and enjoyed a fabulous photo slideshow of the highlights of the last two weeks. Students brought so much energy and enthusiasm to the party; from the food to the karaoke, the dancing to the sports – this time with a beachball to be on-theme – students made the most of their final few hours with their new friends. As the night went on, supervisors handed out awards, celebrating the many moments that made this programme so unforgettable.

As curfew approached, the students gathered for a final check-in and goodbye with their supervisors, before heading to bed for some much needed rest before their journeys home.

To every student who joined us: thank you for making this summer so meaningful. We have had a blast! It has been wonderful to meet each and every one of you. We cannot wait to hear what you get up to in the future, and would love to have you on our Ambassador Scheme.

Safe travels, and as always, keep an eye on our Instagram and TikTok (@reachcambridge) for photos, videos, and memories to last a lifetime. Until next time!
