Summer 2026: Program 1 – Day 11

  • July 16, 2026
  • By Author: media@reachcambridge.com

Somehow time has flown by and it is already the penultimate day of Reach’s first programme! We still have a full day tomorrow, with final morning classes and a farewell party, but then it will be time for packing suitcases and saying goodbye as students begin their journeys home. But for now let’s focus on today, and what a lovely day it was!

We began this morning with our usual breakfast in colleges, and then students headed to their classes. This afternoon some students also partook in our final round of taster courses. Those not in taster courses had a variety of activities to choose from: sports, video games and rehearsals for tonight’s World Showcase. Other students relaxed with their friends, making the most of their last few days in the city.

Students returned to their colleges for one of the last dinners of programme one. Both at dinner and around the city we are always delighted to see groups of students spending time together and building friendships that we are sure will last well beyond the end of this programme.

We gathered in the lecture hall for our final evening lecture of the programme, a screening of the documentary ‘H is for Harry’. The documentary discussed the British education system and its current inability to cater to people from less fortunate socio-economic backgrounds, and we followed this with a Q and A session with co-director Jaime Taylor, discussing the creative choices and ethics of documentary-making.

And then it was time! The World Showcase and Talent Show! After days of preparation students took to the stage and wowed us all. From singing songs in their native languages, to involving the whole audience in the choruses, to one-handed Rubik cube solving, the talent show certainly lived up to expectations.

Both the students and staff had an amazing time with tonight’s celebration of talent and the hard work students have put into not just their acts, and indeed everything else they have taken part in at Reach Cambridge! It has been such a joy to see the students grow in confidence throughout the programme, and this really shone through tonight.

Come back tomorrow to hear all about the final day of the program, and as always, check out our Instagram and Tiktok for more daily updates! (@reachcambridge)
