Summer 2025: Program 3 – Day 4

  • August 7, 2025
  • By Author: Nicole Banas

This morning in their morning lessons, our law students delved into the complex and fascinating topic of the ‘right to be forgotten’. This new concept allows individuals to request that search engines remove certain links to private information about them. It was a thought-provoking session that sparked lively debate about privacy in the digital age. Meanwhile, our physics and astronomy students were exploring one of the fundamental forces of the universe: electromagnetism. They learned about how electricity and magnetism are interconnected and vital to everything from our phones to the stars, connecting theoretical principles to the technology that shapes our lives.

After a morning of deep thought, our students had some fantastic lunch options to choose from. Many journeyed to Byron Burgers for a classic, delicious meal, while others enjoyed the fresh falafel wraps from the Taste of Cambridge falafel van. A crowd-favourite was also Nanna Mexico, providing their popular burritos!

For afternoon activities, students flexed their artistic muscles at a pottery activity, shaping clay into various forms as everyone got to work on their creations. We’re all looking forward to having them painted in the next few days. At the same time, others headed to the Corpus playing fields for a fun-filled session of sports.

It was time for another evening lecture, with today’s a personal favourite of mine, telling a very important story. ‘H is for Harry’ is a film telling the powerful story of a boy struggling with illiteracy and dyslexia, offering a moving and insightful look into the challenges within the British education system. The viewing sparked some thoughtful conversation among the students afterwards, and after the screening there was ample opportunity for our students to ask any questions to one of the film makers.

After the lecture our team brought many students together Werewolves, otherwise known as Mafia, a classic social deduction game that was full of suspense, strategy, and lots of laughter. A few students enjoyed a viewing of episodes from The Big Bang Theory on the big screen, a perfect way to wind down before heading off to bed for the night. It’s certainly crucial for our students to get their rest today before the first of the fun excursions in store tomorrow: a trip to Hampton Court Palace!
