We are sad to say that its our final few days with our students here at Programme 2 – we can’t believe its all gone so quickly! Our students are making the most of their penultimate day with us here. This morning started off with the usual round of lessons for most of our students. However, for our Global Leadership, English Language, Politics and Law students, the day had much more in store: an exciting trip to London! There was a range of different stuff in store for them, depending on their course. Our aspiring lawyers got to check out the UK’s Supreme Court, the highest court in the land. For those wanting to see a bit more of the action, they then headed to the popular West End show, ‘Witness for the Prosecution’! Inspired by the famous Agatha Christie novel, this thrilling classic is a truly immersive courtroom drama, taking place in the real London Country courtroom. It was a brilliant play and the students left happy and fascinated.
For our politicians, it was an opportunity to experience the other side of the coin; the sovereignty held in the Houses of Parliament! The trip to Westminster was truly an eye opening one, allowing them to get a first hand experience of the rooms where the important decisions are made. They were lucky enough to dip into the House of Commons and explore the historic hallways of the centuries old building; and it was safe to say that our students had a lovely day out on this academically enriching trip!
The rest of our students were also kept busy with an arts and crafts activity held in Gonville and Caius, allowing them to touch up and refine some of the creations they have been working on over the course of the programme. After which, it was time for an early dinner for our Corpus students, and a short rest for our students coming back from their day trip. Following this was the programme’s final evening lecture! This was hosted by Jaime Taylor, a film director who directed the charismatic coming of age story ‘H is for Harry’. This is the inspiring story of a young boy who arrives at secondary school unable to read and write, highlighting the pervasive existence of systemic inequality in the UK and how it impacts young people. It was an informative experience for our students about the importance and value of education.
After a round of evening notices and the return of the intense Fire Vs Ice competition, it was time for the much awaited Talent Show! This is one of the highlights for students and supervisors each programme, inviting our students to show off their hidden talents.Tonight’s Talent Show was just as impressive as ever; we were treated with some amazing piano performances, beautiful dancers, and some incredibly talented singers, all of which performed brilliantly tonight. We were also astonished to see one of student’s video games which he coded himself! Over all we were astounded by all the talent put on show for us tonight and we thank every single one of our performers for showing it off!
