London’s calling! A trip to the UK would not be complete without visiting the bustling capital, with students eagerly anticipating the trip down south, which for many was the first time in the city ! London offers an abundance of entertainment and culture, so we let the students decide how they wanted to spend their day. Following on from Friday’s trip to the home of Shakespeare, those students in the mood for Shakespeare got to see the live performance of The Merry Wives of Windsor, in the Globe theatre itself! The play is set in Windsor and revolves around the greedy Falstaff who sets out to ameliorate his financial woes by seducing the wives of two wealthy merchants. Much hilarity ensues when the wives discover that he has sent them two identical letters and decide to take their revenge on Falstaff by playing mischievous tricks with the help of their husbands and friends. Group A also took a trip to the Tate Modern, witnessing some of the world’s most exciting modern and contemporary art, featuring the work of Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse.
Group B had a different but just as exciting day, immersing themselves in the vibrant atmosphere of Covent Garden. The area’s blend of street performances, boutique shops, and historic charm provided a lively and memorable experience. The piazza is brought to life by magicians, musicians, and acrobats.
After a busy day for both groups, the students reconvened back in Cambridge for some evening activities back in college. Students had the choice between a Spooky Movie Night, or a Youth Theatre session, with games and activities revolving around acting, singing and dancing! They had a frightfully good time!
