Summer 2021: Program 1 – Day 8

Enjoying the riverside calm

Today was our first excursion day of the program, and all of our reach participants faithfully woke up early to begin their journey to Stratford-Upon-Avon, the birthplace of Shakespeare. Everyone had time to wander around the cobbled streets of the market place, sample the food and buy some souvenirs before sitting on the grass and enjoying this idyllic town in gorgeous weather. So even bought bubbles, and added to the summer vibe!

Next, we went on to the main attraction of the day, Warwick Castle, where all our young people immediately jumped into exploring all it had to offer: the interactive maze; the medieval great hall; the castle turrets with views for miles; and the exhibitions – including the Falcon’s Quest birds of prey show! This was the favoured by many, a great show showcasing all the feathered friends at Warwick Castle, with some diving in between the crowds, close enough to touch (but of course, we left the touching to the trained professionals!).

Warwick Castle!

The evening activity was the much-anticipated European Championship final. It was an exciting, hard-played game, but sadly the England team did not come out victorious, despite their great effort. Students supporting either side agreed that it was a final to remember.

Finally, the students departed for bed, excited for their second excursion tomorrow to the world-famous Natural History Museum of London!
