What an action packed first (full) day here in Cambridge!
Our students were up early this morning and ready to go after a continental breakfast in Reach Hall. Today was the first day of subject classes supervision and what a success! Highlights of the classes included: an overview of robotics for our Physics and Engineering students, deciphering coding for the Computer Science class, and exploring 20th century ideologies in Politics & International Relations.
The morning was fantastic; the students seemed so thrilled with their first day of classes and it was great to see the enthusiasm and excitement from our experienced teaching team too!
Lunch was enjoyed in the city centre with plenty of time for students to wander around the market and delve deep into the souvenir and gift shops! After lunch, Luke and Drew led an Academic Tour of the Cambridge colleges, with lots of interesting (and absurd) facts about its central sites. The students also had the opportunity to explore the world-famous King’s College and its chapel, led by King’s alumnus Luke! He was delighted to be able to show the students where he graduated and also share some fun facts about Uni life and his days as a Classics student!
Then the students were given an unforgettable punting tour on the river Cam! Punting is an age-old tradition here at Cambridge, so our students sat in a wide-bottomed boat and were chauffeured along the river in style. Along the way, students were given an insight into more Cambridge history, and shown an unparalleled view of the beautiful architecture of this inspiring University City.
After some sport on Jesus Green, the day was then topped off with traditional English fish and chips, and a lecture dedicated to University Applications and University Life. Now time for bed to get a good night’s sleep, ready for another jam-packed exciting day tomorrow!
