So Reach Cambridge has come to an end for another year – a sad time for us all.
However at Reach we like to go out with a bang, meaning the final Friday is always one of the most enjoyable yet emotional days of the program. From the events of Friday morning, you may not have guessed it was such a special day for us as classes ran as usual. Biotechnology rounded off a wonderful two weeks with some expertly delivered presentations on renewable energy. Mathematics celebrated the end of the program with a trip to the famous Fitzbillies of Cambridge, while Politics & International Relations also enjoyed a bit of time out of the classroom, with a trip to the Museum of Anthropology. Physics finished with a recreation of the well-known British television show Dragons’ Den in which students were able to pitch their innovation to their peers.
The afternoon consisted of some productive packing ensuring the students were ready for departures on Saturday morning. However the evening’s events most certainly made up for the lack of afternoon activities! For the final night of the program, Trinity Hall, Christ’s and Downing students all came together to enjoy their final meal as one. The departure dinner was of course followed by the departure party #DeParty! The night kicked off with a few thank yous, the announcement that we had raised over £1600 for Sabre Education and a photo slideshow to remind us of all the amazing memories we’ve shared the last two weeks. The casino was one of my personal highlights of the departure party with Lukas and Blueberry bluffing their way to victory! Table tennis, glitter tattoos and a photobooth were just some of the entertainment on offer, and of course the disco was not to be missed with DJ Al delivering the finest selection of bangers #storyofmylife #seeyouagain. A perfect end to Program 3 of #ReachCambridge2018. I know students and staff have thoroughly enjoyed their time here and the friendships made will most definitely be continued in the coming years!
