Spring 2018: Day 1

  • April 3, 2018
  • By Author: Jenny
During our Spring program, we will be publishing a daily blog, so you can keep up to date with what the students are doing each day. We have also begun documenting the days on the Reach Cambridge Instagram Story – find us on Instagram as @reachcambridge and click ‘follow’ to keep up to date!
After months of preparation and excitement, we’re delighted to welcome our Spring 2018 students to Cambridge. Our students have travelled from as far away as Australia and Japan, to as close by as London and the Netherlands to join us for the next few weeks.

Welcome to Spring – Chocolate bunny treat bags!

Following on from a rainy few days, the sun shone for us today in Cambridge! Students have had a busy first day settling into Reach Hall, a beautiful Victorian Hall that once belonged to Girton College. The students are staying in rooms dedicated to certain Cambridge University Colleges with key alumni fact-files for each college. These include famous Cambridge alumni such as Stephen Hawking, Virginia Woolf and Sir Isaac Newton. We spent the afternoon on a walking tour into the Cambridge city centre via the picturesque Jesus Green. This was followed by a yummy dinner in a traditional pub-restaurant by the beautiful River Cam. We then had a welcome talk and introduction to the program by our Program Coordinators – Kate and Scott – and Monika, our Director of Curriculum, and ‘icebreaker’ games for everyone to get to know each other. We’re already excited about our first day of subject classes tomorrow, followed by Debating in the famous Cambridge Union and a candlelight Formal Hall dinner in Christ’s College. We can’t wait to tell you all about it :)
