London Calling: A Day in the Capital
No trip to the United Kingdom would be complete without a visit to London, and our students were excited to spend the day exploring one of the world’s greatest cities.
Following on from Friday’s fascinating visit to Hampton Court Palace, one group headed to the iconic Globe Theatre for a performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Seeing Shakespeare’s much-loved comedy brought to life in such a historic setting was a truly memorable experience for all! The students fully embraced the spirit of the performance, getting involved alongside the actors and becoming part of the action, creating plenty of laughter and unforgettable moments along the way.
Meanwhile, the second group spent the late morning and afternoon soaking up the vibrant atmosphere of Covent Garden. From talented street performers and independent boutiques to historic market buildings and charming cafés, there was plenty to explore as students enjoyed the unique character of this famous London neighbourhood. The day continued with a guided walking tour through the heart of the capital, taking in iconic landmarks including Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament, whilst learning more about the history and culture behind some of London’s most recognisable sights.
After a fulfilling day, both groups returned to Cambridge for a relaxing evening back in their respective colleges, with a movie night and crafts – the perfect chance to unwind, share stories from the day, and recharge ahead of another exciting week of activities.
Come back tomorrow to hear all about the first day of Week Two, and as always, don’t forget to follow along on Instagram and TikTok for more daily updates! (@reachcambridge)
